Dr. Cynthia Olsen

Small Animal Veterinary Medicine
Acupuncture & Chiropractic for Small Animals and Horses.

Cynthia Olsen graduated from University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine, with honors, in 2006. She has always been interested in alternative modalities, as she led holistic groups and conferences while in veterinary school. Dr. Olsen achieved certification in animal chiropractic through International Veterinary Chiropractic Association in 2009. Dr. Olsen also became certified in veterinary acupuncture through International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 2013. Dr. Olsen is also certified in Fear Free Animal Care.

Dr. Olsen practices small animal medicine and surgery, and offers acupuncture and chiropractic for small animals and horses. Her professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and complementary therapies.

In addition to her passion for veterinary medicine, Cindy is an avid equestrian. She has competed with hunter jumpers, western pleasure horses, and Saddlebreds. She adores all animals, but her favorites include Shiba Inu dogs, Rex rabbits, orange tabby cats, and Palomino horses. Her other loves are playing music, the Cubs, and vegetarian food.

Dr. Marisa Wlodek-Roesner

Acupuncture & Chiropractic for Small Animals

Marisa graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine with honors. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and animal chiropractic through the International Animal Chiropractic Association. Dr. Wlodek-Roesner is also certified in Fear Free Animal Care.

Marisa has admired, respected, and been curious about all creatures great and small for as long as she can remember. Her favorite thing about being a veterinarian is getting to team-up with pet owners to take the best possible care of the animals they love. She’s especially interested in wellness care, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and complementary therapies that can optimize pets’ health. She also loves working with senior animals to help them maintain an active, healthy and comfortable quality of life.

Her favorite activity outside of work is taking long walks with her two dogs. She also enjoys reading, bicycling, swimming, and wildlife watching.

Dr. Emily Mitchell

Small Animal Veterinary Medicine

Emily Mitchell graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. She has had an interest in alternative medicine since first working with Dr. Olsen at the age of 16 and plans to pursue certification in veterinary acupuncture and animal chiropractic in the future.

Dr. Mitchell practices small animal medicine and surgery with interests in soft tissue surgery, dentistry, orthopedics and physical therapy. She focuses on preventative medicine and improving the human- animal bond. She is certified in Fear Free Animal Care with a focus on creating a positive experience for all animals and clients visiting a veterinarian.

Along with her love for all animals, Dr. Mitchell also enjoys yoga, running, and painting with watercolor and acrylics. She enjoys spending time with her family and two cats, Stanley and Luna. She loves being outdoors and is an avid Chicago Bears fan.

Dr. Lynn Key

Small Animal Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Lynn Key was deprived of having any vertebrate mammals as pets during her childhood, which consequently ignited a passion for small animal medicine. Her undergraduate research activities with zebra finches at the University of Illinois led to a publication in the refereed journal, Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, and her work with the Animal Poison Control Center during vet school allowed her to publish a toxicology manuscript in the Journal of Small Animal Emergency Medicine. She graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 2006, and has worked in private practice since then. Dr. Key is also certified in Fear Free Animal Care.

As an active member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Key volunteers her time to counsel bereaved pet owners on the Pet Loss Support Helpline. Her private practice interests include oncology, internal medicine, and mitigating the terror of zoonotic diseases.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Key enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and cat. Her research interests have shifted from zebra finches to recipes for the Instant Pot. Her long-time extracurricular careers of ballet and ballroom dancing have dwindled as her body has become less cooperative, and now she is learning to play the ukulele and develop the habit of meditation.

Dr. Nicole Gianni

Small Animal Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Nicole Gianni (Dr. Niki), born and raised in Ravenswood, attended DePaul University for her biology degree and received her veterinary degree, with honors, from the University of Illinois. She is also certified in Fear Free Animal Care. She worked several years at a small animal clinic in the suburbs, but is happy to now be working much closer to home! Her professional interests include dentistry, advancing animal welfare (i.e. banning declawing of cats, eliminating puppy mills), management of FIV/FeLV cats, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine. She has volunteered on four trips to Native American reservations, providing free vet care to communities in need and currently helps out with local shelters - One Tail at a Time and Felines & Canines. Dr. Niki also did volunteer work at a manatee rescue in Belize!

Her hobbies outside of the clinic include listening to podcasts, doing puzzles, checking out the newest vegan restaurants, and environmental conservation. Despite being from the midwest, she is forever fascinated by orca whales and uses most vacation opportunities for whale watching. She has two rescued dogs "Goose" and "Kipling," rats, hermit crabs, fish, and a frog, but has fostered just about every species of companion animal at some point!
